Hello! Our Purdy’s chocolates have arrived. Those students who took some home to sell have a note written in their agendas. Each box has 20 bars and they sell for 2.00 each. Therefore, for each box taken home, 40.00 needs to be brought back to Mr. Peterson. Good luck with sales and remember if you are going door to door, get parental permission first, and try to use the buddy system so you are not going out alone. Have a great weekend! Good luck to the boys and girls playing on the weekend in the basketball tournaments. Mr. Peterson
Hello! Reminders for tomorrow: Spelling Lesson 23 marking and Test, Math quiz on vocabulary words, and for Fine Arts we are working on our Egypt projects. We had a newsletter go home today. Please sign the second page and bring it back tomorrow or Monday. I also have some good news regarding our camp at Sagitawa. Initially when I got the price quote I thought it was a price per day, but instead it was a price per the camp out. It will in fact only cost about half as much as I had thought. That means we should only have to raise about $2500.00 instead of $5000.00. We should be getting the Purdys chocolate bars by Monday and we can start selling. Reminder to boys basketball players to meet at 3pm at NPSS on Friday. Girls play Saturday at NPSS and need to be there by 8:30am.
Congrats to those getting postcards today for their travelogs. We got three postcards from New Zealand to Mellissa and Michaela. Also, just a reminder to basketball players for boys to be at NPSS on Friday at 3:00 pm and girls to be there on Saturday at 8:30 am. Book orders are due March 7th. Plans are under way for fundraising and I will get the chocolate bars by the end of this week and we can start selling probably as early as next Monday. Have a great day!
Hello,A few agenda items: Spelling Lesson 23 exercises and Test – Friday, Feb. 29. Subway orders are due Thursday, Feb. 28. Math test 2 for percent is tomorrow – Feb. 26. As a class we decided to try to make Camp Sagitawa work. Camp Cameron is already booked up completely for May and June. I have ordered some chocolate bars to sell to see how that goes. I am looking at other fundraisers too. On a hot Saturday in May we could do a car wash. It’s going to cost over $5000.00 to do a two night camp at Sagitawa, but it will definitely be worth the effort. I have calculated that if we rely only on chocolate sales that it would take each student selling about 6-7 cases of 25 to make the money we need. That might be asking a bit much so I hope to integrate other fundraisers to the mix. On another note, the talent show has been moved to March 14th and grade 7 auditions are tomorrow. Congratulations to our science fair participants and to our medal winners: Dale McEachern, Natasha Chretien, Michaela Tobler, and Shelby Bowden!
Hello! Many of you have been getting ready for the talent show so I wanted to remind you that it has been postponed for one week. Also, I hope to have all of the Math tests marked and ready to hand back on Monday. I will then go over the test with the class and then if anyone wants to do a retake you can do that on Tuesday. The last schedule I saw had our class going to the gym to discuss our Science Projects with the judges right after recess. I will confirm that on Monday. Mr. Haddrell is going to put all of our projects in the gym for us on Sunday. I am still entertaining the idea of Camp Sagitawa for two days in June. We will have to do a lot of fundraising so I am checking on the concept of selling chocolate bars and other fundraising ideas. I like Sagitawa because they have washrooms in the cabins with running water, they have a cook who does all of the meals for you and they don’t ask us to do any of the kitchen clean up etc. That gives us more time to enjoy the camping experience. I also like their other facilities and options such as archery, canoeing, hiking, orienteering, play field for ball games, and they have a zip line. I want us to have a great time so it will cost us more than it would at another facility. We can discuss this on Monday and guage commitment levels for fundraising and making it a special way to end the year. See you Monday! P.S. several of you have requested seating arrangement changes. I will answer those questions in person on Monday too. Mr. P.
Hello everyone. Just a reminder that the final projects need to be ready for tomorrow’s Science Fair for the class. I want to also encourage all of our talented students to get something together for the Talent Show coming up Feb. 29. On another note, I want to start making plans for a class camping trip sometime in June. I have checked costs for Camp Sagitawa, but it is very expensive (80+ dollars per day per student) plus bus costs. I will look into other options that will be more affordable. I will keep you all informed. Perhaps Camp Cameron if there are any openings. Any parents wishing to attend an 8 week (2 hrs per week) workshop called Making Sense of Adolescence which I am facilitating, please email me and I will send you an informational brochure. My email is kpeterson@prn.bc.ca Also, the last Friday before Spring Break (March 14th) I want to have a class party at the school. The plan is to meet there after supper and have games in the classroom and a movie in the gym projected onto the wall. We want to play Wii games on the projected screen too. This is a reward for the class getting lots of points! Stay posted for more details as they unfold. I want to emphasize how much I appreciate all of the parents who regularly check agendas and help your child to keep up with assignments. We have an awesome Grade 7 class this year and I hope the rest of the year goes as well as the first half has gone. The Valentines Dance last week was almost exclusively planned for and decorated for by the Grade 7’s. We were able to raise $204.00 towards our Grade 7 Grad. Talk to you all later. Mr. Peterson
